The Bee Breeders Iceland Black Lava Fields Visitor Center competition is calling for submissions for a new visitor center in one of Iceland’s most mysterious and mystical landscapes. The black lava fields in the Dimmuborgir site near Mývatn Lake take on all manner of eerie shapes, inspiring ancient mythology - even claiming to be the spot where Lucifer first fell to Earth.

Such an impressive location deserves an equally impressive visitor center, and so with the Iceland Black Lava Fields Visitor Center architecture competition, Bee Breeders are looking to reinvent their on-site facilities and create an innovative structure that will act as the face of this incredible tourist attraction. The highly sensitive nature of the surrounding environment would require all designs to exercise sustainable construction practices.
